«История Белой Тары» («Повесть о Нарану Герел») – популярное произведение ойратской старописьменной литературы. Сочинение повествует о событиях жизни Нарану Герел (Цаган Дара эке, Белая Тара), которая, несмотря на все испытания, выпавшие на ее долю, остается верной своим нравственным идеалам. В старописьменной монгольской литературе повесть известна в трех редакциях. Тексты двух ранних редакций были введены в научный оборот российскими и монгольскими исследователями. Третья (поздняя) редакция повести, к которой исследователи относят и ойратский текст, до последнего времени оставалась известной лишь в кратком изложении. В настоящем издании дан сравнительный анализ содержания ранних редакций монгольской «Повести о Нарану Гэрэл» и ойратского текста «Жизнеописание Белой Тары».

The Oyrat version of “A History of White Tara” (“A Tale of Naranu Gerel”). Facsimile of manuscript. Research, transliteration, translation from Oirad, comments by B.A. Bicheev. – Ulan-Bator: ILL MAS, 2015. – 256 p.

“A History of White Tara (A Tale of Naranu Gerel)” is one of the most popular works of the Old Mongolian written literature. Three editions of this story are known to researchers. The first (early) edition, written in the form of prose and poetry, dates back to the 17th–18th centuries; it is known through the publication of the famous Mongolian scholar Ts. Damdinsuren. The second edition of the story is almost identical in its content to the early one but differs from it in one aspect: it is much inferior in terms of the text verification. The original copy of this manuscript is part of the collections of the Institute for Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg). The third edition of “The History of White Tara (A Tale of Naranu Gerel)” is known both in the Old Mongolian script and in «Clear Writing». This edition differs from the first and second ones: its content is much richer and it has a number of artistic features, which allows identifying it as a distinct version of the tale.
