Монография является результатом многолетних исследований особенностей существования бурятского языка в условиях контактирования с русским языком. Ее отличает комплексный подход к выявлению проблем бурятско-русского двуязычия, к роли и месту русского языка в жизни бурятского населения, а также в попытке выявления динамики и перспективы процесса проникновения русского языка в различные слои бурятского населения. Особое внимание в работе уделено функционированию бурятского и русского языков среди учащейся молодежи, реализации закона «О языках народов Республики Бурятия», мерам по улучшению языковой ситуации в республике относительно бурятского языка.

The monograph is result of long-term researches in the field of contacting the Buryat and the Russian languages. It is distinguished by an integrated approach to revealing the problems of the Buryat-Russian bilingualism, to role and place of the Russian language in life of the Buryat population, and also in attempt to trace the dynamics of the Russian language’s penetration into various layers of the Buryat population. The special attention in work is paid to functioning of Buryat and Russian languages among the studying youth, implementation of the law "About Languages of Peoples of the Republic of Buryatia", to measures for improvement of a language situation in the republic.
