В монографии впервые в монголоведении исследуются проблемы формирования и развития бурятских диалектов, устанавливается периодизация их истории. В истории развития говоров бурятского языка автор выделяет три основных периода: ранний (общемонгольский); новый (период после присоединения Бурятии к России); новейший (советский). В рамках каждого периода исследуются фонетические, грамматические и лексические особенности бурятских диалектов. В научный оборот вводятся новые архивные материалы.

The monograph is devoted to the description of a morphological system of Mongolian on material of written monuments of the 13-14th centuries. The linguistic facts relating to a certain historical era in development of Mongolian are revealed and scientifically interpreted. Studying of language of the earliest texts showed that the primordial grammatical system basically remained up to now and various morphological data forms the complete system of development of language, its grammatical categories. Along with it distinctive features of a classic language in comparison with modern norms are revealed.
