2019 October 19th to 22nd

The 10th International Research Conference on “Ancient Cultures of Mongolia, Transbaikal Siberia and Northern China” will take place from October 19th to 22nd2019, in Beijing City, China. It will be hosted by the Archaeology of Northern Ethnicity Research Institute at Renmin University of China. The International Research Conference on “Ancient Cultures of Mongolia, Transbaikal Siberia and Northern China” is organized yearly by one among the numerous research institutes and universities from Mongolia, Russia and China who engage in exchanges on ancient cultures, human groups, environments of the Eurasian steppes and the Northern China region in order to develop international scientific collaboration on this domain of archaeological research.

This conference series began in 2010; the nine previous editions have been successively hosted at Ulan-Ude in Buryatia in Russia (2010), at Irkutsk in Russia (2011), at Ulan-Bator in Mongolia Republic (2012), at Chita in Transbaikal in Russia (2013), at Kyzyl in Tuva Republic in Russia (2014), at Hohhot in Inner Mongolia in China (2015) and at Krasnoyarsk in Russia (2016), at Changchun in Jilin in China (2017) and in Ulan-Ude in Buryatia in Russia (2018).

Conference topics:

– the archaeology of Paleolithic and Neolithic Central Asia, East Asia and North Asia;

– the archaeology of Bronze Age and Early Iron Age Central Asia, East Asia and North Asia;

– the archaeology of Nomadic Empires in Central Asia, East Asia and North Asia;

– research on the origin of ethnic and cultural groups;

– research on the geography and paleo-environment of Central Asia, East Asia and North Asia;

– natural sciences in archaeological research.

Planning: DAY 1: October 19th: Arrival; DAY 2: October 20th: Conference panels; DAY 3: October 21st: Conference panels; ; DAY 4: October 22nd: Visit of the Palace Museum, National Museum or Capital Museum (this activity is covered by the participants themselves); DAY 5: October 23rd: Departure.

The participants to the conference are required to fill in the “Conference Attendance Form” in attachment no.1, and send it by email before the 15th of April 2019 to the contact addresses below. The committee will then issue invitation letters based on the information provided in the form.

The participants to the conference are required to send their papers for publication in electronic format by email by the 30th of July 2019. Papers in Chinese must follow the standards of academic publication in Chinese, while papers in English, Russian, Mongolian must conform to the “Requirements for Publication” listed in attachment 2. English abstract is necessary for those participants who write their theses in Russian, Mongolian or Chinese.

The languages admitted during the conference are: Chinese, English, Russian and Mongolian (Simultaneous translation will be available for Chinese-English and Russian-English during the conference).

The travel costs to Beijing are covered by the participants themselves. No registration fee is required. The host institution will cover the participants’ meals and accommodation during 4 days (October 19th to 22nd). All activities outside of the conference premises are covered by the participants themselves.
