Статья посвящена современному состоянию фольклористики. В методологическом аспекте оно характеризуется плюрализмом, открывающим очень широкое исследова¬тельское поле. В аспекте организационном для него характерны интернациональные со¬общества, вплоть до сетевых, при отсутствии непроходимых методологических границ между исследователями, что и обеспечивает полноту охвата и рассмотрения фольклор¬но-этнографического материала.

Четырнадцатый выпуск журнала «Mongolica» посвящен 130-летию со дня рождения видного дипломата, публициста, академика АН СССР, монголоведа, специалиста в области этнографии, кочевого хозяйства, политики Монголии — Ивана Михайловича Майского (Яна Ляховецкого) (1884—1975). Ему принадлежит написанный более полувека назад и до настоящего времени не утративший своего научного значения основополагающий труд по истории, политике, этнографии и политическому устройству Монголии. Большая часть жизни И. М. Майского была посвящена дипломатической работе. Являясь дипломатом самого высокого уровня, он отстаивал интересы Российского государства на международной арене. Для монголоведов его труд ценен тем, что в нем отражена обстановка Монголии периода борьбы страны за свою независимость в первые годы становления народной власти в Монголии, которые пришлись на начало XX в. Выпуск имеет разделы: «Историография, источниковедение», «Филология: литературоведение, фольклористика, лингвистика», «Рецензии», «Наши юбиляры», «Наши переводы». В журнал вошли статьи российских и зарубежных специалистов. Рецензии на новые книги и отчеты о проведенных научных мероприятиях по монголоведению увеличивают ценность выпуска. Статьи написаны в русле основных научных приоритетов и с позиций современного монголоведения, для которого историко-культурные проблемы монголоязычных народов весьма существенны, несут важную общественную нагрузку и имеют как чисто научное, так и общеисторическое практическое значение.

The 14th issue of Mongolica is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of the eminent diplomat, publicist, member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, scholar of Mongolian studies, specialist in ethnography, nomadic household, and Mongolian politics — Ivan Maiskiy (Jan Lachowiecki) (1884—1975). His work is a fundamental contribution to the study of the history, ethnography and political order of Mongolia. Written more than half a century ago, it has not lost its relevance today. Ivan Maiskiy dedicated most of his life to diplomatic service. His contribution to Mongolian studies is valuable as a description of Mongolia in the turbulent time of the country’s fight for independence in the early 20th century. This issue consists of the following parts: Historiography and Source Studies, Philology (Literature, Folklore, Linguistics), Reviews, Our Anniversaries, and Our Translations. The articles are written by both distinguished scholars and young researchers in the field of Mongolian studies. Reviews of new books make the issue topical. The papers are written in keeping with the research priorities of modern Mongolian studies, with special regard to the matters of history and culture of Mongolian ethnic groups, which gives the articles social, historical and practical value.

The monograph studies social processes that took place in 1940–1960 on the example of one family's story. It proves the fact of the significant level of preservation of traditional culture in life of the Soviet people. The oral story contains a wide range of classic ethnographic plots that unfold on the background of the most important events of the country. One can find materials witnessing revival of some traditional components of culture in the post-Soviet period.
