Книга посвящена проблемам этногенеза и этнической истории в регионе Центральной Азии и сопредельных территорий. На основе систематизации и анализа археологических культур прослеживаются процессы ранней этнической дифференциации и интеграции на территории Центральной Азии в целом и в Байкальском регионе, в частности, начиная от карасукской эпохи и кончая периодом Монгольской империи. Для интерпретации археологического материала привлекаются данные фольклора (героический эпос, генеалогические легенды, тотемические культы), религиозных воззрений монголоязычных народов, а также письменных источников китайской и монгольской историографии.

The book is devoted to problems of ethnogenesis and ethnic history in the region of Central Asia and adjacent territories. On the basis of systematization and analysis of archaeological cultures the author traces processes of early ethnic differentiation and integration in the territory of Central Asia in general and in Baikal’s region in particular, beginning from the Karasuk era and till the period of the Mongolian empire. Interpreting the archaeological material the author uses data of folklore (the heroic epos, genealogical legends, and totemic cults), religious views of the Mongolian people, and written sources of Chinese and Mongolian historiography.

The fifteenth edition of the “Mongolica” magazine is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of outstanding scientist, Mongolian linguist, the eldest professor of Oriental faculty of St. Petersburg State University, Zoya Kononovna Kasyanenko, who gave teaching at the department of Mongolian philology more than fifty years. This issue consists of the following parts: “Historiography and Source Studies”, “Literature, Folklore, Linguistics”, “Reviews”, “Our anniversaries”, and “Our Translations”. The articles are written by both distinguished scholars and young researchers in the field of Mongolian studies. Reviews of new books make the issue topical. The papers are written in keeping with the research priorities of modern Mongolian studies, with special regard to the matters of history and culture of the Mongolian ethnic groups, which gives the articles great social, historical and practical value. Сделан сравнительный анализ традиционных верований бурят, монголов и тюркских народов Сибири, установлены их генетические связи.

The author on the basis of the analysis of archaeological, folklore and ethnographic and linguistic materials attempts to reconstruct religious representations of people, living near the lake Baikal in an era of the early and developed patrimonial system, formation of the first state associations in Central Asia and Southern Siberia. The comparative analysis has been developed on traditional beliefs of the Buryats, Mongols and the Turkic people of Siberia, their genetic linkages were revealed.

Исследована одна из острых проблем, не теряющих своей актуальности, – социальная адаптация сельской молодежи в городе.

The history of creation and functioning of such organizations as Komsomol, OSOAVIAHIM, «Union of Militant Atheists» in Buryat-Mongolia is considered in this work. In 1920–1930th participation in these organizations formed «ideological face» of the Soviet citizen. The special attention is given to the participation of youth in modernization processes in the country, to inwardness and functioning of the youth organizations in connection with a specific character of region. Investigated one of the sharp problems – social adaptation of rural young people in the city.
