В монографии исследуется бурятская этничность в контексте социокультурной модернизации постсоветского периода. Рассматриваются новые аспекты формирования постсоветских идентичностей, среди которых преимущественное значение приобретает одна из множественных идентичностей – этничность и формы ее проявления. Актуальность подобного исследования определяется и социальной практикой – необходимостью исследования и теоретического осмысления существования титульного народа (бурят) в полиэтничном сообществе – в России. В монографии на основе анализа исторических, политических и публицистических текстов выделяется система знаков, используемых для обозначения границ “своей” общности и служащих для ориентации в пространстве взаимодействий.

The monograph discusses Buryat ethnicity in the context of sociocultural modernization of post soviet period. The authors analyze new aspects of post soviet multiple identities, in which predominant position is given to ethnicity and the forms of its manifestation. Topicality of the research is defined by the social practice, that is, the necessity to research and theoretically understand the existence of the titular nation (Buryats) in the multiethnic community of Russia. Basing on the analysis of historical, political, and publicist texts, the authors define the system of symbols that are marking the boundaries of the “own” community and are used for orientation in the space of interactions. The monograph is of interest for anthropologists, cultural and political scientists and for those interested in present-day ethnopolitical and ethnocultural processes in the Baikal region.
